History, meet the Present

After hearing about our specialisation in restorations, these clients approached Turner Plus for a contemporary extension to their historic workers’ cottage. The challenge for us was that the clients were choosing to remain on the property during the build! To cater for this, we planned the project schedule to build the rear section while they lived in the front cottage. This then allowed them to move into the newly built construction while we worked on the original cottage.

Our brief was to build the rear extension in a contemporary style but remain sympathetic to the historical building at the front. The extension included a lot of stonework, and we were fortunate to work with noted Tasmanian stonemason David Stone to execute this significant feature of the build.

We worked with the client to tweak the original design and achieve the desired aesthetic – complementing the new build with the historic building. We think the final product fits this brief perfectly!
